Lee Horsley
Lee Horsley -- stage, television, film actor and trained vocalist; as well as an avid outdoorsman specializing in horsemanship, rodeo, riflemanship and fishing. Born in Muleshoe, Texas and raised in Englewood, Colorado, he began his career at a young age singing in church and finding musical theatre in high school.
Lee’s training in his youth prepared him well for the stage. He toured nationally in “West Side Story,” “Damn Yankees,” “Oklahoma!,” “1776” and then at the request of noted composer, Jerry Herman, starred in “Mack and Mabel.”
He began his television career as detective Archie Goodwin in the 1981 NBC drama series Nero Wolfe, which led to five more television series –Matt Houston, Paradise, Bodies of Evidence, Hawkeye, Wind on Water, and two cable shows -- Benelli’s Dream Hunts and Western Sportsfishing with Lee Horsley. Rounding out his television career, he appeared in a few mini-series to include North and South: Book II and Crossings and countless made-for-television movies – Agatha Christie’s Thirteen at Dinner, Danielle Steel's Palomino, Snowy River: The MacGregor Saga, Care and Handling of Roses, Home Song, Wild Women of Chastity Gulch; to name a few.
Lee has lent his voice to several projects to include narrating the Meredith Schultz Hodges' children’s book “Jasper, the Story of a Mule,” Church Norris’ “Justice Riders,” Larry McMurtry’s “Lonesome Dove,” Michael Connelly’s “Two Bagger” and Jiffy Lube’s “Power of a Signature” campaign.
His film career includes Crossing Over, Unlawful Passage, Showdown@Area 51 Nightmare Man, Dismembered and cult classic Sword and the Sorcerer. Filming of Shattered Glory will begin in 2009
Lee has been awarded with a People’s Choice Award, the Golden Boot Award and named “Best Actor” in a Television Movie by the Viewer’s Voice (advocates for quality television). He was nominated for two Emmys for Paradise and Care and Handling of Roses. He’s been inducted into the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and has a commemoration on The Walk of Western Stars.
