Alan Dysert
Millions of people in the United States and many other countries know Alan as Sean Cudahy from the ABC soap opera, All My Children. Alan’s five-year portrayal of that devious yet humorous cad landed Alan on the cover of People magazine and made him a regular guest on such shows as Regis and Kathy Lee, Sally Jesse Raphael, The Merv Griffin Show, and a co-host of The Mike Douglas Show. Alan has also been seen nationwide on prime-time television, in film, and in national commercials. His commercial credits include Toyota, Chrysler, Atari, and others.
Alan was cast in two feature films last year: The MGM film, Two Weeks, with Sally Field and The Fallen with John Savage, Billy Burke, William McNamara and Jeremy London.
As a film producer, Alan has executive produced four feature films for Hemisphere Entertainment Films: The Ghost Club, which is having a successful run at all Hollywood Video and Blockbuster stores across the country; and the suspense thriller, One of Them. Alan also served as executive producer on The Grift and Academy of Terror, and was an associate producer on Undercover Kids.
Alan produced and hosted the six-part series, Behind the Scenes at All My Children. He wrote, produced and directed two-hour multimedia shows for Ronnie Milsap at his The Ronnie Milsap Theater in Myrtle Beach and wrote production numbers for Lee Greenwood at The Lee Greenwood Theater in Sevierville.
Alan has taught over 3,000 actors in Nashville, Chicago, Memphis, Miami and other cities. He has worked with or taught many of the biggest names in the country music world including: Miley Cyrus ( HANNAH MONTANA), Dierks Bentlley, Jo Dee Messina, Brady Seals, Ronnie Milsap, Lee Greenwood, Michael Peterson and many others
He prepares recording artists for their music videos and consults their record companies on television projects and performance development.
In these workshops, Alan focuses on the realities of acting in front of a camera whether it is for a film, a soap opera, a situation comedy, a commercial or a music video.
As acting for the camera is very different from acting for the stage, it is essential that anyone wishing to pursue a career as an actor learns the hows and whys of acting for the various mediums and forums.
Alan brings years of practical experience as a working actor to these workshops designed to educate students regarding realistic and usable approaches to acting and the business of acting.
He encourages frequent performance in front of the camera for all students, to help them learn to feel more comfortable and relaxed.
Having spent twelve years in Los Angeles, six years in New York and a great deal of time in Chicago and Nashville, Alan knows or knows how to find out the answers to most questions about getting started in the business as well as finding work in all of the major markets.
Class sizes are kept small to allow for more personal attention.
Students work with scripts from films, soap operas, sit-coms and commercials as well as participate in improvisation exercises.
His approach not only enhances the seasoned talents’ performance with additional training, but also provides those with little or no acting experience a non-threatening environment in which to acquire initial practice and beginning skills to prepare them for future performance in front of the camera.
Alan grew up on a family farm in central Illinois and earned a Mass Communications degree from the University of Illinois, where his focus was film and television. He was a James Scholar and graduated with high honors. Alan is active in the management of the family farm.
